Welcome to GreatCanadianStamps.com your on-line source for quality Canadian stamps. We sell stamps a little bit differently here. Instead of offering a million stamps at a time we select just a few. Usually, we will offer them in lots rather than individual stamps so that it makes more sense from a shipping perspective. Unfortunately, when a single stamp is sold the costs to ship it are the same as shipping several so if you purchase them one at a time it ends up costing you way too much in postage. Sort of ironic isn't it. That your major cost for collecting stamps are the stamps used to send your order!  Some dealers actually make more money on the shipping than they do on the stamps! We don't operate like that. Many dealers are very fair with shipping costs and we prefer that approach too! Other dealers offer "free shipping" but as everyone knows the shipping is not free so it gets built into the prices.  The images that you see are the actual stamps that are being offered for sale. Because of differences in scanning and monitors the actual colors may be slightly different than you see on your screen. Normally we have found that the stamps look better than their scans would indicate.  When grading stamps we have found that the process can be very subjective so where practical we suggest a grading range that you can confirm by closely looking at the images. We have been in e-commerce for over a dozen years and we understand how important it is to accurately describe the items. We also offer a worry free guarantee. If when you receive the item you are not happy with it just let us know and send it back to us. When we receive it -in the same condition we sent it to you we will be happy to refund your purchase price. Your only cost is the shipping which is quite low. We have had this policy since we first started and have only had to do this once when a gentleman ordered the wrong item.  Last point - we set the buy now buttons up for individual sales and should you purchase more than one lot the system will attempt to charge you for shipping for each lot. We will of course reverse that double shipping amount as we always combine sales so that you only pay once for shipping. You can also contact us by email if you wish to purchase more than one lot and we will sort it out then. In the future we will reprogram the buy now buttons to shopping cart format to solve this problem. About Shipping

It costs approximately $2.50 to send a small number of stamps to a North American address via normal letter mail. This service is very dependable and economical but it is not traceable or insured so there is a small amount of risk. Our experience has been that less than one percent of our shipments have simply disappeared over the years. 

You can also have your purchases mailed to you via expedited parcel post. This is a good service in that it provides a tracking number, confirmation of delivery and insurance to $100. Unfortunately the additional service is reflected in additional costs and our average expedited parcel to a North American address costs $15. The choice of shipping is yours. It really depends on your willingness to take a small risk and the value of the shipment vs the additional cost. 

Please contact us for details on International shipping. Normally the prices are slightly higher however often tracking and insurance is not possible. In some countries we noticed the shipping is about the same as for North America. 

Payment

We think that Paypal is the best all round payment method. It provides us with an instant payment and provides you with a record of the payment and you can also use your credit cards or bank checks. That way we can ship without waiting for a payment to clear. Paypal charges us a small commission for the service but it is free for you to use.   We understand that some people prefer to use checks or money orders too -not a problem. We also have an alert pay account.  If you use a money order and are outside of Canada be sure it is an international money order not one just for your country. We have had some customers send cash and so far no problems but you are running a bit of risk doing that.  Any questions just ask.

Reference Books on Stamps

All collectors need a good source of information on their collection with some idea of what the stamps are worth. Some stamps are worth a lot of money and it's a good idea to know which ones they are! Often stamps will have defects and sometimes there is a great variation in value between different examples of the same stamp.  The reference books will also let you know how to grade stamps and information such as dates etc. It's fun too!
